Ho! Wing section hang glider base tube wheels 2.0

Ho! It is a sturdy wheel for the base rod of a hang glider, with interchangeable hubs. They were developed by Raven Sky Sports in the United States for seven years. At that time, wing section base tubes began to become more and more common, and they could be used for round or wing section, aluminum or carbon fiber base tubes.

Recently, they released version 2.0 of the wheel. The newly designed wheels are stronger and stronger than the original, but with little weight gain. There are five different wheel hub designs to fit all common bottom bars.

The wheel hub is made of a single piece of white nylon and is wrapped "like a clamshell" on the base rod, and is designed to not slide sideways. They are equipped with strong rubber bands to fit either side of them to reinforce this.

Ho! Wheel 2.0 is seated on the bottom of the wing section

The wheel itself is made of a piece of gray PVC plastic. The two halves of each wheel are connected to the hub with a pair of hand-tightened screws without tools. Some wheels have weight reduction holes, some do not, depending on the application.

They are available in two diameters, 6.25 inches (16 cm) or 8 inches (20 cm), suitable for aluminum and carbon bottom bars. The carbon fiber bottom rod hub is larger than the aluminum hub because the front and rear dimensions of the carbon fiber bottom rod are larger than the aluminum airfoil bottom rod. The width of the hub on the base tube is also relatively large (1.125 inches or 29 mm). As an added benefit, in the case of a hard landing, this width is also expected to spread the load more evenly, otherwise the relatively fragile carbon rods may be damaged. This does mean that the wheels cannot be shared between the carbon fiber floor and the aluminum floor.

These sets are priced between US$140 and US$200 and can be purchased from www.hanggliding.com
