Two world-leading kite surfing brands will provide equipment for the new IKA one-design youth kite surfing course, aiming to inspire a new generation of young athletes to join the sport on the road to Olympic glory.

The International Kite Surfing Association (IKA) has selected Ozone’s unparalleled Edge V10 tube kite, with sizes of 6, 9 and 13 square meters. It is guaranteed to meet this level due to its proven ability on the track and the company’s sustainable global distribution range. Demand in the next few years. Ozone is selected from Cabrinha and F-One.

The competition to provide foils and surfboards for the new class is fiercer, with Moses, Taaroa, Cabrinha, Levitaz and F-One all vying for awards. Finally, the well-known Italian brand Moses with international influence won the victory with carbon fiber K91-590 foil and carbon T65 board, which provided novice athletes with the perfect combination of performance and accessibility.

The IKA Arrows Youth Foil Class for boys and girls aged 11-16 (U17 age group) will provide young kite players with a safe, stable and highly competitive single-design racing platform, who will continue to become formula kite racers. And the aluminum foil kites and hydrofoils produced in the registered series will be used for kitesurfing for the first time on the 2024 Paris Olympic track in Marseille.

The new Arrows Youth Foil Class provides an affordable way to compete for families, sailing and kite clubs, and World Sailing Member National Authorities (MNA). Its competitively priced aluminum foil and kite packaging will be fixed for at least the upcoming four-year Olympic cycle to extend the life of the equipment and help minimize costs.

In doing so, IKA is expected to reflect the amazing success of the low-cost and easy-to-use youth Techno 293 "feeder" course for windsurfing, which opened up the competitive momentum of young athletes and attracted 168 sailors from 18 countries. Last year’s European Championship.

By choosing Ozone Edge V10-flying on a 13m route, 4m and 7m extension cords can be adjusted according to the participant's weight and wind conditions-and the combination of Moses foil and board, young archery athletes of all sizes and weights Both will participate in the same race, with "single design" equipment, and race on a windward-leeward circuit that is only slightly shorter than the Formula Kite circuit.

When Edge became the weapon of choice for many gold medals in the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games, it has fully demonstrated its racial origin and attractiveness to young athletes.

Perhaps ironically, for kites that are so popular on the court, racing cars have never been part of the design brief. Ozone set out to create a high-performance kite that can move fast and difficult in headwinds and jump well in the hands of ordinary free-riding kite riders.

"Of course, we are very happy that it also runs very fast on the track," said Iain Hannay, general manager of Ozone. “For us, it’s about accessible performance, so you don’t have to focus on the kite, but on other things that are changing on the track. We are very happy to be selected and we are very happy that there will be a driver for more Young people and future racing courses. Anything that can develop this sport for children is great."

Moses' carbon fiber T65 board has a volume of 31 liters, which is slightly larger than Formula Kite board to provide a greater margin of safety. Full carbon K91-590 foil is used. Carbon foil is better than cheaper aluminum foil because it has a longer service life and is more likely to repair damage. Together with the existing worldwide distribution, it provides the platform needed for a new racing course.

For safety reasons, the mast of the K91-590 is 89 cm long, slightly shorter than most Formula Kite foils, up to 110 cm. The 590 mm front wing and 630 square centimeters rise easily in the breeze at a slower speed, but still have a performance of more than 30 knots, which will keep young athletes in development happy.

On the basis of the very successful Moses Fuente, Moses provides MNA with complete foils and surfboards at a very competitive price, which will help Arrows Class to flourish in the same way as the windsurfing Techno 293 from an early age growing up.

"This is a pretty aggressive price," said Jimmy Mazzanti, Moses director and brand manager. "At such a favorable price, a small club can be said to be something worth investing in. It is very suitable for young riders-a simple carbon plate and aluminum foil, and still has good performance."

Mirco Babini, President of IKA, is convinced that Arrows Class will be the winner, especially after so many major kitesurfing brands have surrendered. Winners at Moses and Ozone will surely attract children with their affordable and easy-to-use performance kites and foils.

“Many children in Italy — 10, 11, 12 years old — have failed because they are safe now,” Barbini said. "They can jump into the sea and start riding their wings at a speed of 6 knots. In those breeze, it is calm and can provide them with help and guidance. It is really important to have a "feeding" class. It is very similar to the Techno 293, It’s just slightly higher performance. Young boys and girls like it from the beginning, but they also want to run fast and race cars because it’s cool. Both hydrofoils and kites combine ease of use and performance."

The first game of the new Arrows Youth Foil class is scheduled to be held in the summer of 2021 with the Formula Kite U19 Championship. The goal is to bring all young kite players together to compete in a foil festival atmosphere.
