If you’re feeling a bit peckish then you’ve probably been browsing the product list at YC Onion. You can purchase a HotDog with chips, and then go for dessert with the Chocolate or Waffle.

But of course, I’m not browsing a dinner menu. YC Onion unusually names all their products after food. The Hotdog is a slider, the Chips are a motorised dolly. The waffle is, naturally, a LED light. DIYP caught up with Zoe Huang at the YC Onion booth to discover more about this quirky young brand and their new tripod the Pineta.

So why have they named all their products after food? “We wanted to create a close relationship with customers,” says Zoe. If it seems a little unorthodox, remember that it’s all about marketing and staying top of mind. We’re definitely going to remember this brand.

YC Onion has recently introduced a series of tripods to their catalogue. We got to see the Pineta One Flip Tripod in action. Just by unclipping the legs at the top, you can lower or raise the height of the tripod. All without having to bend over. It really is rapid. Used with the Coconut ball head, you can adjust the tripod to super low shooting angles with ease.

Also released in the Pineta range is a monopod. This also works with a One Flip adjustment from the handle at the top and is billed as both a monopod and a hiking pole. It has two quick releases, one on the top and the other at the bottom. It will be available in both aluminium and carbon fibre and it has an extension pole to increase the height, also via a quick release system.

The One Flip Tripod is expected to be available within two months and is expected to cost under $600. The monopod is available to pre-order from $299.
