Soulhand USB Electric 5 in 1 Travel Coffee Grinder Review-The Gadgeteer

Comment-Bad coffee, life is too short. The hotel is not known for good coffee. These two facts are the reason why I try to travel with my own coffee equipment on vacation. I don't need fancy coffee, I only need coffee that is not difficult to drink, and I need it before I get out of the room and try to interact with other people. Is the Soulhand USB electric 5-in-1 travel coffee grinder my new "must have" item? You must read to find out.

A rechargeable, battery-powered cone-shaped burr coffee grinder with a stainless steel filter and insulated cup that you can use to make coffee while traveling or camping.

Soulhand USB electric 5-in-1 travel coffee grinder is sold as an all-in-one solution to meet your mobile coffee machine needs. It has a shell that may be made of carbon fiber (it looks like carbon fiber, but the description on the website is "exquisite leather", although it is exquisite, it is not leather). The coffee machine is a fascinating and beautifully designed device that can be used to brew a perfect cup of coffee. The set consists of six independent parts, which can be unscrewed and slid against each other. This reminds me of those Russian dolls.

After unpacking the device, I set the grinder to charge. The 1200 mAh battery can power the grinder seven or eight times before it needs to be charged, so it should take you through the morning of coffee and then drink some more. There is also a handy "low battery" indicator light to tell you if you need to recharge. Please note that the charging cable does not come with a wall adapter-you must bring your own.

It's easy to figure out how these parts are assembled into a coffee grinder, a dump filter, a travel coffee cup and a second cup, in case you have friends with you.

The second cup is called "dripping kettle" on the Soulhand website, because if you are an immersion heater, you can theoretically boil water in the cup and then use it to pour it on the ground. However, this brings a good point: boiling water is not one of the five-in-one functions. As I have done research, it seems that some people find this surprising. In Europe and Asia, you often have an electric kettle in your hotel room. I think this is why there is no mention on the product website that you need another device to boil water. In the United States, this situation is not very common, so please plan accordingly.

Fortunately, I am testing this product at home, so I set up the cup, filter and grinder, and then scooped in my coffee beans. Then I turned on the grinder and made the rest of my breakfast. Then I ate the rest of the breakfast. Then I waited for a while, and then the grinder was finished. I'm a bit exaggerated, but two scoops of coffee will take about 7 minutes. Now, I admit, I like a sturdy cup and I use a lot of beans. If you can get by with fewer beans, it may take less time. My full-size grinder can grind a whole pot in less than 30 seconds, so I am surprised that it takes so long to grind a relatively small amount. Now that I know the time issue, I think if you are in a hotel room, you should let the grinder run earlier, perhaps when you take a shower.

I am very impressed with the quality of the grinding. It did some nice mid-range venues and looked very consistent. You can adjust the grinding size to five different settings by turning the dial at the bottom, and the cone-shaped burr will do the job without overheating the coffee beans. The grinder will automatically turn off when it runs out of beans. I think if you use it in the hotel bathroom or shower, you won’t wake anyone up-it’s less noisy than a hair dryer.

I heated up my kettle and flipped the "wings" on the side of the filter so that it could perch on top of the coffee cup. I started to pour water and found another limitation: the double-mesh stainless steel filter is great, but once the beans are inside, it can’t hold so much water. You really need to pour, wait, pour, wait, pour again. This is not a bad thing, because bitter coffee comes from letting coffee beans and water mix for too long, but again, if you are in a hurry, this is not for you.

The finished coffee is great, and the travel mug with a flip lid is indeed leak-proof. I can imagine putting it in my briefcase or bag and starting my morning adventure. I also like the rubber ring at the bottom of the travel mug because it is always on the armrest of my favorite chair.

It's super easy to clean up. The filter is rinsed clean, and you can put it on one of the cups and let it dry for the next use. Will I take it on a trip? If weight is not a problem, I will. This is a sturdy machine, but it weighs only two pounds, which can be very heavy in a bag.

I really like this coffee machine. I think even though it is not the fastest way to make coffee, true coffee lovers know that a good cup of coffee is worth the wait. For bacteria phobias like me, this is the best way for me to avoid the mysterious history of indoor coffee machines!

Take a coffee break. Your addiction is showing, it is not healthy.

Thank you for your concern, but I have few bad habits left, and I cherish each one.

This seems like a good idea, except for one thing (at least for us Americans). In order to boil water in most hotel rooms, you still need to use the coffee machine in that room, which has a mysterious history (running it without coffee), unless you bring your own small electric kettle (I have already done this), otherwise This would defeat the purpose. I know why boiling water is not one of the functions of the device, because it may not be able to boil from a battery-powered device. Oh, we do our best to get a decent cup of coffee)))

so true. I have a small foldable water bottle that I often bring. I think it’s less than $20 on Amazon, and it’s pretty compact. This is not the best option, but it currently works. I think an immersion heater is also fine.

I don't know that foldable water bottles even exist. Checked it on Amazon, it is definitely on my list, it is a must-have for my next trip, thank you!

Great, let me see if this is available in my country.

I spent more than fifteen years on the road for a few months

Electric grinder, kettle, coffee pot and a real coffee cup, no matter where I go...all in a small bulletproof box

It's definitely worth it

I have a manual burr grinder, which I sometimes use when traveling. It is completely portable and can be slid into the tube of a pneumatic press. Although it is mainly used for camping, if I can find a good hot water source, I need to consider moving it to a hotel for use.

Thanks for the great review!

And, for those who think coffee is not a good thing: (Mature vocabulary ahead!) https://www.tiktok.com/@studiofitnessdiva/video/6995541275311148293
