Samyang Optics announced its new Premium XEEN lens series: XEEN Anamorphic X2 (50mm T2.3) and XEEN Meister (35mm T1.3, 50mm T1.3 and 85mm T1.3). Both prime numbers and anamorphic lenses look great physically (from a design point of view). Read the "dry" details below:

The XEEN brand film prime lens is the first professional video and film lens series released by Samyang Optics in 2015. XEEN glass allows filmmakers to use cinema lenses without breaking the bank. XEEN was one of the first affordable movie lenses. Although XEEN Prime was (and still is) considered a static version of the relocation, they produce very good images, and independent filmmakers make good use of their filmmaking. Fast forward 6 years, after “in-depth research and communication with customers, Samyang is now launching a new high-quality XEEN lens series to meet the needs of more cinematographers”. This includes XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3 X2 (this is Samyang's first deformed glass) and XEEN Meister 35mm T1.3, 50mm T1.3 and 85mm T1.3 models.

Samyang claims that these new high-quality XEEN lenses covering full-frame sensors are specifically designed for high-end digital cinema photography. XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3 can only be used with PL mounts, while Meister 35mm T1.3, 50mm T1.3 and 85mm T1.3 will provide three different mounts: PL, Sony E and Canon EF mounts. More details are as follows:

XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3 is the first anamorphic lens released by Samyang. The lens covers the full-frame sensor and provides an interchangeable PL interface. The newly developed aperture with 15 aperture blades can produce perfectly elliptical and uniformly illuminated defocused highlights. Samyang promises that this design ensures a pleasant bokeh that filmmakers will like to manipulate creatively. After decompression, the XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3 lens covers the original film size of 2.55:1 in the 35mm full-frame sensor.

XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3 has a non-rotating front diameter of Ø114mm, making it ideal for use with a 4×5 mask box. In addition, the carbon fiber material front lens barrel design not only increases the rigidity of the lens, but also adds a sense of luxury. Samyang said that by applying carbon fiber, which is lighter than metal but strong and beautiful, to the lens barrel, it is lightweight while maintaining durability. In addition, super-bright luminous fonts can be easily used in dark environments.

Use the XEEN anamorphic widescreen specifications to explore the following:

As Samyang said: "XEEN Meister lenses enable cinematographers to create beautiful, consistent and controllable glare in images while maintaining contrast and avoiding transmission loss." The XEEN Meister series supports 8K shooting and has a unique X coating technology, which can effectively control the internal light reflection to create a distinctive appearance, with flares and ghosts creating dramatic effects. Meister lenses support the /i technology protocol (PL mount only), which enables the camera to automatically record accurate lens metadata.

XEEN Meister lenses are color-matched throughout the series, and have super bright T-shaped stoppers of T1.3. 13 aperture blades can produce excellent low-light performance and beautiful bokeh. The PL interface version also includes the /i technology protocol, and users with compatible cameras can view and record lens metadata, such as focal length, aperture, and focal length.

Each lens has a 300° focus rotation, and the focus scale itself has an angle, making it easier to confirm the settings even when viewing the lens from the side. These lenses are characterized by a sturdy design and are made of titanium. In fact, according to the picture, the lens reflects luxury through a future-oriented design. The design is very unique and beautiful.

Use the XEEN Meister Primes specifications to explore below:

On paper, these lenses look great! XEEN Anamorphic 2X will be available at an affordable price, as will Meister primes. Unfortunately, there is no information about the price, so this is just our assumption. In addition, there are no sample fragments, so all we get is this press release from Samyang. If we take XEEN prime numbers as a reference, we should expect decent images that can satisfy most filmmaking applications. The titanium design of Meister primes looks absolutely stunning. However, XEEN Anamorphic 50mm T2.3 2X attracted our attention even more. We are eager to see some shots of it. But again, this is what we get now. Once we get more information (price and lens), we will notify you in time. stay tuned!
