The 5.7-liter LS1 V8 under the hood takes this replica to a whole new level.

The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is a true and absolute symbol. Anyone would agree that this car is not only a piece of history, it is also one of the most beautiful things in the history of the automotive world. Due to its iconic rarity and iconic status, the 300 SL is certainly worth millions of dollars. In case your pocket is not deep enough to buy one, this seemingly faithful replica of Mercedes-Benz will suffice.

In fact, it is not surprising that someone dared to copy the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. Its original owner may have thought that if you can't buy a 300 SL, it's better to copy one. According to the list, the original owner used the Hotrod House in Mansfield, Texas to build a working replica.

According to the list, this 300 SL Gullwing replica has a fuel-injected 5.7-liter Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine under the hood, running on a refreshed ECU. Complementing this mill is an aluminum radiator with electric fan, custom air intake, exposed coil assembly, dual 2.5-inch exhaust pipes and Magnaflow muffler.

The engine sends power to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner T56 six-speed manual transmission and Dana 44 differential. The current owner changed the oil in March 2021. The car is equipped with a Flaming River bogie, which is reportedly derived from the suspension and brakes of the C4 Corvette (AFCO adjustable shock absorber and Wilwood brake hydraulic system).

This replica is supported by a tube frame chassis with a fiberglass body wrapped in silver finish. Just like the real 300 SL Gullwing, it has vertically opening doors, Mercedes-style front grille and logo. It also has bullet fender mirrors, shutter fender vents and painted bumpers. The replica rides on chrome-plated 17-inch wheels with Falken FK452 tires.

Inside, the replica has a red interior on a custom-made fiberglass shell bucket seat, as well as a darker looped carpet. It is equipped with classic instruments such as HVAC system, RetroSound stereo, billet aluminum steering wheel, tachometer, speedometer and six-digit mechanical odometer.

The current owner obtained this copy in 2014. Its odometer shows less than 700 miles, and the current owner adds about 500 miles to the total. This 300 SL Gullwing replica with a clean Montana title is now on sale on Bring A Trailer and is priced at $27,500 at the time of writing.
